Hello! I’m Nikki. 5’4”. In the first picture I weighed 208 lbs, and in the second 138 lbs. 70 lbs down now! I started my journey in November 2012 (after some miserable birthday pictures) so this is about 7 months progress of clean eating and exercise.

To be honest, I never thought I would get down to this weight ever. I didn’t think I had that much to lose. More like if I was honest with myself, I didn’t want to admit that I had that much to lose, plus saying that my goal was to lose 70 lbs or more just seemed so outrageous and unattainable. I was Queen of the Fad Diets. I’ve tried probably every single one out there. From age 17 to age 22, I constantly lost and gained the same 30 pounds. (I thought 170 was my forever low weight.) Once I finally let go of seeking the ‘quick fix’ everything seemed to fall in place.  It sucks to hear it, but there’s really no quick fix. You’ve gotta commit. But it is so worth it. Get over that first hump and I promise, you will question why you haven’t tried to be truly healthy all along. Best of luck in all your healthy journeys! <3

yo yo yo check this out peeps

left is me flexing my abs, right is me relaxing my stomach. this is after a normal day at school, my tummy full of healthy and nutritious food. i get enough fiber, i get enough protein, i get enough carbs, i get enough of every essential vitamin and nutrient. so why does this happen?

meet my awesome, amazing, super helpful gastrointestinal tract. it helps me digest food and absorb nutrients, expanding in the process. it only makes sense that my stomach would be so ‘bloated’ looking because there is food in my stomach. healthy, awesome, delicious food sitting in my small intestine and being carried to my stomach. how fabulous is that? my entire body is one big beautiful physiological biorhythm. eating disorders shouldn’t tell you otherwise, because after i’ve had ample sleep, i’ll wake up like the photo on the left after my gastrointestinal tract has finished digesting the food i ate the day before. new concept, i know.. crazy, eh?

god bless this post. that pooch is not “stomach fat” it’s called having organs and intestines hahaha

needed this x10

never stop reblogging this. So important to remember

THANK YOU

I really need to read this daily

Drug makers can be sued by federal regulators for so-called “pay-for-delay” deals, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday in a 5-to-3 vote.

These agreements had allowed brand-name drug manufacturers to pay generic drug companies to delay releasing the cheaper versions to market. Now, brand-name…

Great news for drug costs!

you can preach about slut-shaming all you want, but you can’t deny there’s something very wrong with 13 and 14-year old girls going out in skirts and dresses so short they barely cover their asses and shirts with necklines so low…

I don’t find girls that work out this executivly attractive

Why reblog and comment on a picture of someone you don’t find attractive?
I could care less who finds me attractive or not, I don’t live my life to please people. Keep your rude comments to yourself.

By the way, this is my picture.

Its called Freedom of Speech. Dont like it? Dont blog your photo. Youre putting your pic out there for anyone to do anything to it.

Quit whining bitch.

I guess I have the Freedom of Speech to defend myself as well, am I right? “Don’t like it”?? Then don’t reblog a picture of someone and spread your negativity.

Imagine I posted a picture of an overweight girl with the comment “Ew so gross!” Or if I posted a picture of someone of a specific race/ethnicity and expressed how I would never find any of those ‘people’ attractive.
OR what if I reblogged your personal picture and left a comment a rude comment that could include the words disgusting, rude, horrible?? (These are examples of words people have used to describe my pictures btw). Would you just laugh and say “HA HA FREEDOM OF SPEECH IT’S ALL GOOD!!” I’m sure you wouldn’t.

I know not everyone will think I am attractive and I really don’t care if they do or not; I’m not a model, I’m not paid to do anything with my looks, I am a regular person. I don’t live my life for anyone else and I don’t need your approval or disapproval. There will always be people that will be rude but have some decency and manners. I don’t understand why you would want to bring anyone else down, how does it affect you?

I assumed you were a lot younger since you decided to call me a bitch online, but I should know that stupidity and immaturity does not change with age.

This past Friday I had my regular heart check-up with my pediatric cardiologist at Children’s Hospital. It had been 3 and 1/2 years since I had last seen him and I was excited to see how my heart was doing and to tell him how pharmacy school was going (I’m leaning towards doing a cardiology residency after I graduate from UNMC).

I was born with coarctation of the aorta and a bicuspid aortic valve. I had surgery when I was 5 weeks old to repair the coarctation, which is a narrowing of the arch of the aorta - so that’s why I have check-ups every few years. During this check-up, my doctor told me my blood pressure was excellent and my echocardiogram looked great. He also told me that I’ll get to see a new adult congenital heart defect specialist in 2 years since I have outgrown Children’s and I’m an adult!

I am extremely blessed because I’ve been allowed to be as physically active as I would like to be since I haven’t had problems since the surgery. Some day down the road I will have to have my aortic valve replaced if it becomes thickened or leaky, but I am in great shape for the future!
